Priest sexually molested a 10-year-old student



Priest arrested for molesting male student

The priest was missing since Thursday when the boy student told his parents about the incident.

Kolkata: A diocesan priest was Monday arrested for molesting a male student in West Bengal.
Fr. James Soren of Krishnagar diocese is the warden of Don Bosco School’s hostel at Sagardihi in the state. He had allegedly sexually molested a 10-year-old student on Wednesday night.
Mrinal Majumdar, additional superintendent of police, said the boy’s father had complained that the priest hadcalled the fifth grader to his room and sexually assaulted him.
The priest was missing since Thursday when the boy student told his parents about the incident.
The boy, who belongs to Raghunathganj in the state, stays in the school’s hostel.
Fr. Soren has been charged under the Indian Penal Code which deals with molestation and carries a maximum punishment of life imprisonment.
The Salesians of Don Bosco had 20 years ago handed over the school to the management of Krishnagar diocese.
The diocesan priests, however, retained the name of the school.
