Fr. Canisius CMI 'the Servant of God' |
Fr. Canisius CMI was declared 'the Servant of God' by Mar Pauly Kannokkadan amidst a huge applause by the faithful, priests and religious in the presence of Mar James Pazhayattil, Mar Joseph Karikkassery, Bishop of Kottappuram and Mar Joseph Pastor Neelankavil. Fr. Jose Panthaplamthottiyil, Prior General of CMI, Dr. Paul Achandy, Provincial of Thrissur, Fr. Jose Irimpan, Proto Sincellus, Diocese of Irinjalakuda, Fr. Davis Ambooken, Fr. Sebastian Malieckal, VGs of Diocese of Irinajalakuda, 8 other CMI Provincials and Major Superiors of several religious congregations were present on the occasion. Dr. Clement Chirayath, Chancellor, Diocese of Irinjalakuda was co-celebrant. Fr. Seby Kolangara was the Master of Ceremony. The provincials present were Fr. Anto Karokaran (Bhopal), Fr. Johny Edappulavan (Chanda), Fr. Jose Kuzhichalil (Bhavnagar), Fr. Antony Puthanangady (Coimbatore), Fr. Josekutty Padinjarepeedika (Kottayam), Fr. Sijan Oonnukallel (Muvattupuzha), Fr. John Pananmthottam (Kozhikode) and Fr. Cletus (Vicar Provincial, Kochi). The prominent others present were Dr. Vincent Alappatt, President, Oriental Vidyapeeth, Kottayam, Dr. George Thanjan, VG, CMI, Dr. Thomas Aykara, Rector, Dharmaram College and former Prior General, Bangalore, Dr. Thomas Mampra CMI, former Prior General, Dr. Jose Kuriedath, Fr. Varghese Kokkadan, General Councillors, Dr. Saju Chakkalakkal, President, DVK, Bangalore, Dr. Alexander Paikada, Chief Editor, Deepika and Fr. Prosper Komban, one of the senior most members among the CMIs. Chetana Church Choir under the leadership of Fr. Thomas Chakkalamattath led the music of the liturgy. Dr. Paul Achandy welcomed all and Fr. Paulson Paliekkara, Vicar Provincial expresed the vote of thanks. Fr. Thomas Vazhakkada, Fr. Jolly Maliekkal, Fr. Joshy Kattukaran, Fr. Anil Konkoth, Fr. Antony Paramban, Fr. John Kollannoor, Fr. Sunny Punneliparambil, Fr. Jose Chunkan and Fr. Paul Kalluveettil were among the organizers.
The team of tribunal for canonization declared
The declaration was followed by the announcement of the tribunal members and oath taking of the members before the bishop. First of all, Bp. Pauly Kannokkadan took oath before God and the people that he would maintain secrecy and confidentiality of the proceedings. Later Dr. Cherian Thunduparambil (Postulator, Rome), Dr. Varghese Palathinkal (Episcopal Delegate), Fr. Johnson Manadan (Promoter of Justice), Dr. Anto Chunkath (Notary), Dr. Francis Thonippara (Expert, Church History), Fr. Sunny Punneliparambil took oath before the bishop. Dr. Sebastian Panjikkaran and Dr. Pauly Padayatty are the other committee members. It was announced by the Bishop that the details of the members of the theological commission have a confidential nature and would not be disclosed.
