Cardinal George Alancherry, major archbishop of Syro Malabar Church, has called upon the All Kerala Catholic Congress (AKCC), the political arm of the Church, to join hands with non Christian organisations who share the same perspective in their fight for rights.
Addressing the lay members of the AKCC unit of Pala diocese of the Church, Cardinal Alencherry said under the coalition politics being practiced in the State, none of the communities were happy, as their legitimate demands were not met.
Against this backdrop, the AKCC should join hands with organisations, like the Nair Service Society (NSS), the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam, Kerala Pulayar Maha Sabha (KPMS), Akhila Kerala Dheevara Sabha, Muslim Educational Society, etc. in their fight against the wrong policies of the government, he said.
While AKCC has no political party agenda, it will respond to the wrong policies of political parties and governments in power, the Cardinal said.

  1. Today the 30th of October 2018, morning, a man was walking through the corridor of 5th floor of Carmel Hospital, Palai, a hospital of the CMC Congregation established by St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara. He was a newspaper vendor, probably a security staff of the hospital. A patient's relative asked for newspaper and the man tilted the bundle and showed one (?under) side of the bundle and asked "MANORAMA?" The patent's relative insisted 'DEEPIKA". Then the bundle was tilted the other way from where Deepika appeared. (Its price was told as Rs.8 though later it was noted that Rs. 7.50 was printed on it. May be due to fear for what to do in case the purchaser didn't have 50paise or may be the fee for bringing the newspaper to the doors).
SELLING MANORAMA NEWSPAPER IN CMC CONGREGATION HOSPITAL IS UNDERSTANDEABLE FOR THOSE WHO NEED THAT OR ONLY THAT BUT HIDING (probably unintentionally) DEEPIKA AND PROMOTING MANORAMA IS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND STOPPED AND MEASURES TO BE INSTITUTED TO PREVENT REPETITION AT ONCE EVEN IF IT WAS NOT INTENTIONAL. The vendor may be politely asked whether he was receiving or was offered incentive for promoting Manorama over Deepika, especially if he was a staff of the hospital.
